CLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga County Board of Health has released its influenza report for this week.
There were three flu-related deaths that occurred: A 51-year-old male from Cleveland, a 70-year-old female from Cleveland, and an 80-year-old female from Cleveland.
There have been six flu-related deaths reported by the Board of Health so far this season. Health leaders also report that there were 56 confirmed cases of flu associated hospitalizations this week.
668 confirmed cases of flu-associated hospitalizations have been reported so far this flu season.
Last week, the Cleveland Department of Public Health (CDPH) reported there were 170 deaths associated with pneumonia or flu reported in Cuyahoga County so far this season.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health reports that the flu activity level was elevated to 'moderate' this week after being at 'moderate low' the previous week.
Ohio is currently listed as having "widespread" flu activity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The rash of illnesses in the area forced several local schools to close this week.
