COLUMBUS -- On Monday, Ohio announced the chosen dispensaries, picked out of over 100 groups, that will be provided sellers’ licenses for the vending of medical marijuana.
Ohio's Northeast District consists of dispensaries in Lorain, Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark and Lake counties.
Licenses were awarded to five Cuyahoga County applicants, two of which are in Cleveland. Two are in Lakewood and one is in Garfield Heights.

This is the next step in a sequence of documents necessary to grow and sell marijuana in Ohio starting this September. However, with a 20-week grow cycle, not including drying, curing, and packaging the marijuana/marijuana products, Sept. 8, 2018 is not looking like a realistic start date for the selected dispensaries.
“I don’t think it will occur on Sept. 8," said Kevin Murphy, an attorney who specializes in the medical marijuana business. "Is it possible that you could have a dispensary open on Sept. 8 if the licenses are awarded today? Yes. Is it likely that you’ll have any? Maybe you’ll get a few. But you will absolutely not have 60 dispensaries open on Sept. 8 as the state planned, and I think the state’s aware of this and they’re going to be willing to grant extensions, as long as they know that these license holders are moving forward with their plans.”
