Following Wednesday's confirmation of a fourth case of coronavirus in Northeast Ohio, this time in Stark County, The City Club of Cleveland hosted a live, virtual forum on the virus's impact, and the state and local response to this unique public health threat.
After the news of the fourth case was released, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said in a press conference on Wednesday that his recommendations to cancel large events would soon become an official order.
This followed his announcement on Tuesday, after the first three known cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Cuyahoga County, that he had declared a state of emergency, opening a phase of increased vigilance around the state.
From no-handshake zones to event cancellations, school closures and illness, COVID-19 will likely have an impact for all of us.
The City Club's mission is to create conversations of consequence. To accomplish that goal while staying mindful of guidance from public health officials to avoid gatherings, the club has decided a virtual forum is the best method to open a dialogue today.
