CLEVELAND — When does life begin?
That's the question posed today to an appeals court in the ongoing University Hospital fertility clinic failure.
Wendy Penniman is one of more than 70 plaintiffs to sue after the University Hospital disaster a year ago destroyed 4,000 eggs and embryos.
Her case is unique as she alleges the embryos are living humans.
University Hospital attorneys counter that the embryos are property under state law.
A Cuyahoga County judge last year dismissed Penniman's claim, setting up today's hearing.
A ruling is expected later this year.
