CLEVELAND — University Hospitals has cut the ribbon on a new surgery center in Amherst that will be part of a "state-of-the-art" medical campus set to open in May, the Cleveland-based health provider announced Wednesday.
The University Hospitals Amherst Beaver Creek Surgery Center, a joint venture between UH and Kansas-based NueHealth, is now open for patients. The ambulatory surgery center will focus on orthopedic and spinal surgeries as well as ear, nose and throat procedures, officials said in a media release.
“This state-of-the-art center offers a specialized option for outpatient surgical care—one that is focused on quality, innovation, and careful attention to individual patient needs,” NueHealth CEO Whitney Courser said. “We expect that UH Amherst Beaver Creek Surgery Center will become a preferred regional destination for personalized and cost-effective healthcare.”
The Amherst Beaver Creek Surgery Center is located on the same campus where UH will open its new Amherst Health Center in May. The campus will also include a medical office building.
“As healthcare providers today, it is up to us to make sure that we offer the highest-quality care in the communities where our patients live,” said UH CEO Dr. Cliff A. Megerian. “Patients are near their family and friends, who offer the help they depend on as they recover. And of course, we know people enjoy the comfort of their own beds."
