An HIV positive man will serve seven years in jail after pleading guilty to felonious assault, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced Thursday.
Prosecutors say 26-year-old Dominique Ely met a University of Akron student at a city nightclub in April of 2017 and the two went to a motel, where they engaged in sexual activity. Ely did not disclose his HIV positive status, and the victim also believed Ely was a woman, as he had been wearing female clothes.
Additionally, Ely was on parole for sexual battery in Cuyahoga County at the time of the incident.
