Kelly Clarkson's new talk show to air on WKYC

The show will premiere Sept. 9 in the 2 p.m. time slot.

Kelly Clarkson's new syndicated talk show will premiere this September -- and now we are happy to officially announce it will be broadcast right here on WKYC.

The Kelly Clarkson Show, described as a "weekday hang," will premiere on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m., replacing The Wendy Williams Show. The Grammy Award-winning artist has already had a home on Channel 3 as a judge on NBC's The Voice, which sees its highest ratings in the Cleveland market.

In a written statement, WKYC said in part:

"Coupled with heart-warming stories, live musical performances, games and big surprises, 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' seeks to uplift and make the world a little bit smaller by reminding everyone of all the good things we have in common...One thing is for certain, it will be exciting to have afternoons in Cleveland infused with Clarkson’s down-to-earth style with a dose of popular music. After all, we are the Rock and Roll Capitol of the World."

Back in February, Clarkson spoke to WKYC's Betsy Kling about her new venture, saying she wants the show to be a place "where everyone is welcome."

"It’s going to be a nice form of escapism for everybody to just laugh and laugh at me and just have a good time," Clarkson said. "We’re involving music in it as well, so it’s kind of all of my worlds are colliding"

The Kelly Clarkson Show will be produced and distributed by NBCUniversal, and will air on all NBC-owned local television stations, as well as other markets like Cleveland.
