Man arrested in Cleveland, charged with murder in Columbus shooting

Columbus police received a call for a report of a shooting around 2 p.m. at a hotel. Police say Kevin Hurt turned himself in at the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 53-year-old man charged in a deadly north Columbus shooting was taken into custody in northern Ohio on Thursday.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers received a call for a report of a shooting around 2 p.m. at a hotel located on Quarter Horse Drive, just north of East Dublin Granville Road. 

Police say a man was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:11 p.m. Police identified him as Jshawn Simmons.

On Thursday, police say Kevin Hurt turned himself into the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office. He is charged with murder.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting were not immediately known.
