AKRON, Ohio — Akron Fire crews responded to a call for an apartment building with smoke coming from the roof on the 300 block of Douglas Street in Akron.
One caller told the Akron Fire Department that residents were being assisted in evacuating the building by other residents.
Fire crews arrived to the scene to find smoke coming from the roof and second floor of the two-story, multi-residential building.
A female victim was found at the scene and pronounced dead at the site of the fire. The name of the victim is currently being withheld pending family notification.
Another resident was treated on site but refused transport to a local medical facility.
The incident remains under investigation by Akron Fire crews. 3News will update this story as more information is released.
