CLEVELAND — An 18-year-old woman is dead and two other teens were hospitalized after a shooting during a Halloween party in an Akron home, police said.

According to the Akron Police Department, officers arrived to a residence on Paris Avenue just after 10:45 p.m. Saturday and found the 18-year-old woman suffering severe injuries from a gunshot wound. A 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were also found nearby with "non-life-threatening injuries."

Police say the 16-year-old and 17-year-old victims ran away from the party after being shot.

All three victims were taken to a hospital, where the 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead. The younger victims are expected to recover, police said.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as 18-year-old Lashae Ellis of Akron.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man after a "brief foot chase" at the scene. The man allegedly tossed a handgun away while running from officers and the gun was recovered from the scene. Police do not know if the man was involved in the fatal shooting. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business and booked into Summit County Jail.

While police do not know if the man they arrested played a role in the shooting, detectives believe an "unknown male produced a handgun and fired shots while inside the house, striking the victims."

Police said the shooting investigation is "in its early stages" as detectives work to figure out who fired the shots.
