18-year-old man shot and killed in Akron, victim identified

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Akron Police Department are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old man, a news release from the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said.

It happened Sunday night, just before 11 p.m. According to the release, officers responded to the 500 block of Noble Avenue for a shooting. That's when they found the man with "multiple gunshot wounds."

The man was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he died.

Further details, including suspect information, or the victim's name, have not been released.

On Tuesday morning, the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Tayveion Murphy of Akron. The cause of death was ruled a homicide with gunshot wounds to the torso.
