AKRON, Ohio — Police and federal officials have safely located two Akron children who had gone missing more than a day ago.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, 15-year-old Ania Jones and her 5-year-old sister Taliah Grant were found late Wednesday morning inside a home on the 2200 block of 8th Street Southwest. The two originally disappeared the night before after leaving their house on Roslyn Avenue about 3 1/2 miles away.

"The safe recovery of missing children is at the forefront of the missions of the United States Marshals Service," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. "We are grateful for the safe recovery of these two young girls. The U.S. Marshals Service and its partners will not give up on missing child cases throughout our communities."

The exact circumstances of the girls' initial disappearance were not made clear, and it is not known how they ended up inside the home where they were found.
