AKRON, Ohio — Police in Akron are investigating a pair of fatal shootings that occurred on Monday.
Officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of Talbot Avenue and McKinley Avenue around 7:00 p.m. Police found the victim, an 18-year-old man, inside a silver Nissan with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to Summa Health City Hospital where he later died.
The unknown suspect shot the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene in an older model vehicle, possibly a 4-door Ford Focus or Fusion.
Several nearby houses were also struck by gunfire, but no additional injuries were reported. Shell casings were recovered from the scene.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications.
No suspect(s) have been identified.
At 10:00 p.m. on Monday, a 37-year-old man was found shot near a white Jeep in the area of Dover Ave. and Bellevue Ave. Moments earlier, residents reported hearing multiple gunshots before officers arrived. Police found the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The unknown suspects fled the scene in a dark colored vehicle.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications.
