44-year-old woman dies following motorcycle crash in Akron

Neither of the individuals were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

AKRON, Ohio — A 44-year-old woman has died following a motorcycle crash that happened last week in Akron.

Akron police say the accident happened on Saturday, Aug. 5 at around 3:15 a.m. when a motorcycle failed to make a left turn onto Adelaide Boulevard. Upon arriving at the scene, police found the 50-year-old driver and the 44-year-old passenger who had been ejected off the motorcycle lying on the ground unresponsive. 

Both of the motorcyclists were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The 44-year-old passenger, whose name has not yet been released, died at an area hospital at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night as a result of her injuries. 

Police say that neither individual was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. 

At this time, the crash remains under investigation and it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the accident.
