Who said the zoo is only for kids? The Akron Zoo is offering two new events for adults ages 21 and over.
The first event is on Saturday, May 14 from 4-8 p.m. called "Locked Zoo Experience."
Here's what the Akron Zoo says about the event:
During Locked Zoo Experience, guests will work individually or with a team to unlock a series of puzzles on their smartphone while exploring the zoo. Adult beverages and food will be available for purchase from local breweries and food trucks. Vendors include Akronym, Hoppin’ Frog, Nauti Vine, A Moveable Feast, Johnny Lóte’s Latin Street Corn and Krazy Kitchen.
Tickets for Locked Zoo are available online at akronzoo.org/locked-zoo-experience. Akron Zoo members are $25 and non-members are $30.
The second event, called Seltzers n' Shells, will take place on Saturday, May 21 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Seltzers n’ Shells gives the zoo’s popular Brew at the Zoo a new twist! Local breweries will be on-grounds with different hard seltzers, ciders, craft beers and wines for tasting. The event will celebrate World Turtle Day and include keeper talks, a tortoise shower and animal encounters.
Breweries on site at Seltzers n’ Shells include Bent Ladder, Hard Mule Seltzer Co., Hoppin' Frog, Lock 15 Brewing Co., Long Drink, Maize Valley Winery and Craft Brewery, March First Brewing, Mighty Swell, Missing Falls Brewery, Steven Point Brewery, Ciderboys Cider Co, Tramonte Distributing, Unplugged Brewing Company, Urban Artifact and Broadview Brewing Company. Food trucks include Bytchn Kitchen, Krazy Kitchen and Sassy Shay's Twisted Mac N Eatz.
Tickets include eight drink samples and are available at akronzoo.org/seltzers-n-shells. Akron Zoo members are $30 and non-members are $35. Designated driver tickets are $19 for Akron Zoo members and $24 for non-members.
