Akron police say the incident began on Monday, July 22, at around 8:15 a.m. when Barberton police notified them of a pursuit that had ended in a crash in the 1400 block of Kenmore Blvd.

Police say that the motorcyclist was fleeing from Barberton police at a "high rate of speed" when he struck a van.

"The motorcycle went down after the crash and the rider was ejected. The motorcyclist and motorcycle struck a parked tractor trailer. The impact of the motorcycle caused the tractor’s gas tank to rupture," said Akron police in a press release.

As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist died from his injuries.
