AKRON, Ohio — Two people have died following a pair of weekend shootings. Here’s what the Akron Police Department is saying:
Saturday, Feb. 25 around 7:35 a.m.
31-year-old William Hackney was found inside a vehicle, which was parked in front of a residence in the 700 block of Dunbar Drive.
“The victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene,” according to details released Monday by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Akron police say officers had initially responded to the area after "a woman discovered her bullet-riddled vehicle in the parking lot with an unresponsivel man inside."
Police recovered shell casings and other evidence from the scene.
No arrests have been made as the incident remains under investigation.
Sunday, Feb. 26 around 12:10 a.m.
24-year-old Tha Soe was shot while sitting in a vehicle, which was parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Dayton Street.
“The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Akron City Hospital where he later died from his injuries at 12:39 a.m.,” according to the medical examiner’s office.
No suspects have been identified in the shooting.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct autopsies on both victims.
Authorities are asking for anybody with information in either shooting to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490.
