AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating a deadly crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck that occurred Friday evening.

Just after 6 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of South High Street and Selle Street, where they found a 72-year-old man with critical injuries.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a nearby hospital, but later died from his injuries.

According to police, the motorcyclist was heading southbound on High Street when he was allegedly struck by an F-150 truck traveling eastbound on Selle Street.

Investigators say a 25-year-old truck driver allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection, causing the crash.

According to Akron police, the investigation is ongoing, and charges are likely against the truck driver.

Officials believe that speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
