Akron fire: 2 dogs killed, 2 residents displaced following overnight blaze

The Red Cross was notified to assist two residents who were displaced from their house.

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after an overnight house fire in Akron killed two dogs and displaced two residents.

Akron fire says they responded to the blaze on Thursday at around 1:53 a.m. at 600 Stephens Road. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a one-story home with black smoke coming from the side of the single-family residence. 

Despite firefighters quickly entering the home and extinguishing the blaze, two dogs died during the fire. 

Officials say that the American Red Cross was notified for the two displaced residents. 

At this time, the fire remains under investigation, and no human injuries were reported.
