A University of Akron football player has been charged with assault, stemming from a scuffle with another man back in May.
Akron Police say 19 year old Brian Bell got jnto a fight at a party on Power Street.
Jason Watkins told officers that Bell sucker punched him, then hit him in the face two or three times. Watkins was treated at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center for a cut on the nose and swelling above his left eye.
Bell plays linebacker for the Zips and is originally from Valdosta, Georgia.
He is scheduled for arraignment on September 30.
