Akron man admits to killing girlfriend, police say

He admitted to killing her when police asked to search his home.

AKRON -- Police arrested an Akron man who they say admitted to killing his girlfriend before her body was found.

Thirty-five-year-old Jordan S. Dehaven is facing charges of aggravated murder and murder for allegedly killing his girlfriend, 41-year-old Amy M. Rowan.

Rowan's mother called police Friday night to report she hadn't heard from her daughter, who failed to show for work that day. She also said her daughter's phone went straight to voicemail.

Police spoke with Rowan's friends and Dehaven before checking several locations. When police asked Dehaven for consent to search his home, he admitted to killing Rowan and said her body was in the basement.

Police say they found Rowan's body wrapped in a blanket with a stab wound.

After Dehaven was arrested, police found a knife in his home. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
