AKRON -- A jury has convicted a 20-year-old northeast Ohio man of killing his girlfriend's parents with a sledgehammer and will consider whether to recommend the death penalty or life in prison.

Shawn Ford Jr. was convicted Wednesday in Akron of aggravated murder and other charges in the April 2013 deaths of Margaret and Jeffrey Schobert of New Franklin.

Ford's attorney declined to comment, citing a gag order.

The slayings occurred 10 days after Ford stabbed and critically injured the Schoberts' daughter because she refused him sex.
