AKRON -- An Akron man has pleaded guilty to the death of his father and will serve 18 years behind bars for the crime.
According to the Summit County Prosecutor's Office, 29-year-old Nathan Moynihan pleaded guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault for the death of his father, 47-year-old Daniel Moynihan in February 2017.
The prosecutor's office said Nathan Moynihan used a hammer to attack his father, who suffered severe head trauma. Daniel Moynihan died four days later at Akron City Hospital.
Nathan Moynihan was immediately sentenced to 18 years in prison.
