An Akron man was sentenced to prison time for the murder of his girlfriend in Summit County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.
Ricardo Marshall will now serve 15 years to life in prison for death of 40-year-old Kathy Landino.
"This was a horribly tragic situation. Ricardo Marshall controlled, manipulated, and isolated Kathy Landino from her family. Our community is safer with him locked up, " said Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. "Unfortunately this is all too common with the domestic violence cases we see, especially during our current pandemic."
Marshall was sentenced by Judge Kelly McLaughlin after entering a guilty plea on one count of murder.
According to reports, Marshall called 911 on November 21, 2019 and told dispacthers that he found his live-in girlfriend, Landino, not breathing. He later admitted to officials that he beat and strangled Landino, killing her, and waited 12 hours before contacting police.
Marshall's four children were inside the home at the time of the murder.
