AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting and killing a 31-year-old outside a restaurant last year.

28-year-old Andre Warren was found guilty on multiple counts by a Summit County jury last month, including murder and felonious assault. He will be eligible for parole after serving 29 years of his sentence.

Investigators say Warren shot Dominique Thomas three times outside Julian's Restaurant on Pioneer St. back on July 1 after Thomas had pulled into the parking lot and left his vehicle. A second suspect, identified as 32-year-old Bryan Esters, then allegedly shot Thomas four more times in the back at point-blank range as Thomas was on the ground.

Thomas died at the scene from his injuries. A second 20-year-old victim was also shot, but survived.

Esters, however, has remained on the run since the incident. He was initially charged last September (following Warren's arrest) and is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. Esters has ties throughout Akron area, but his last known address is in the 600 Block of Fern St. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
