Akron police: Man shot during alleged Facebook Marketplace meetup at Morgan Park

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating after a man was shot during an alleged Facebook Marketplace sale. 

According to police, the incident happened in the 400 block of Morgan Avenue at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6. 

Upon arriving at the scene, they found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital in Akron for injuries, which are considered to be non-life threatening.

Akron police say that based on a preliminary investigation, the victim reportedly arranged to meet someone at Morgan Park to sell a PlayStation 4, which he had listed on Facebook Marketplace. 

"When the victim arrived, he was met by the would-be buyer and another unidentified male. Moments later, one of the suspects took the PS4 and shot the victim before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored vehicle," said Akron police in a press release. 

Officials noted that officers searched the area, but they could not locate any suspects. In addition, evidence from the crime was recovered at the scene. 

At this time, Akron police are working to identify the suspects involved in the incident.
