Akron police seek public's help for information: Man suffers serious injuries after apparently struck by vehicle overnight

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating after a 35-year-old man was believed to be struck by a vehicle while crossing the street early Wednesday morning.

It was around 4:45 a.m. when Akron officers responded to an alarm call at a business in the 1700 block of South Main Street where the victim was found “with head and leg injuries in the rear parking lot.”

He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His name was not released.

“Based on evidence collected from the scene, it was initially believed that the victim may have been shot; however, medical personnel did not find any bullet wounds,” according to Akron police. “Based on further investigation, it appears the victim was struck by an unknown vehicle while crossing nearby Palmetto Street.”

No additional details were immediately available as the incident remains under investigation.
