AKRON, Ohio — A big change is coming to Akron roadways.
The city of Akron has a new transit option for those who take public transportation. The Akron METRO Regional Transit Authority is launching its first ever electric buses on their fleet.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was set for Tuesday morning at the Robert K. Pfaff Transit Center -- which is located at 631 S. Broadway Street in Akron -- to showcase tours of the new electric busses, a vendor fair and refreshments.
Those attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony include:
- Members of the METRO Board of Trustees
- Board President Robert DeJournett
- Vice President Mark Derrig
- Summit County Executive Ilene Shapriro
- Baberton Mayer Bill Judge
- Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don Walters
