The parents of a 2-year-old girl who died after being found in the cold last month have both been charged with felony child endangering, Akron police announced Tuesday.
Twenty-four-year-old Dariaun D. Parker and 22-year-old Tierra M. Williams are scheduled to be arraigned Friday at 1 p.m. in Akron Municipal Court. Their daughter, Wynter Parker, died on Feb. 2.
Authorities say Wynter wandered outside her home on Doty Drive after her father fell asleep on the date in question, only to be found "frozen" on the front porch by her mother when she returned home. Tierra Williams then frantically called 911.
Dispatchers were able to assist Williams with CPR before paramedics arrived. Wynter was then rushed to Akron Children's Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
One neighbor of the family told WKYC she often had to tell Parker and Williams to bring their children inside, although she never expected anything like this.
"It was a few times where I had to take both of her kids home," Christal Lucas said at the time. "It's just a very sad situation. It literally broke my heart."
