13-year-old taken to hospital after being shot in Akron, police looking for shooter

An investigation is ongoing.

AKRON, Ohio — A 13-year-old boy was taken to an Akron hospital after being shot, according to the Akron Police Department.

Officers responded to a residence on the 1100 block of Ericsson Avenue at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning after getting reports of a shooting in the area.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found evidence that a shooting had taken place, but no victim. Moments after they arrived, they were notified that a 13-year-old boy had been shot and transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A suspect or suspects have not been identified at this time. 

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to the Summit County Crimestoppers by calling them at 330-434-COPS.
