15-year-old boy shot in Akron, taken to hospital

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating after a 15-year-old boy was shot and taken to the hospital on Saturday afternoon. 

Police say they responded to a shooting at around 4:38 p.m. at Stoner Street and Orlando Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, a teenage victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. 

EMS officials transported the teenage boy to Akron Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

"The investigation is ongoing as detectives try to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this senseless incident and identify the person or persons responsible," said Akron police in a press release.
