Fatal shooting in Akron under investigation, police say

A 20-year-old woman was arrested for obstructing at an emergency, but the person or persons who shot the victim have yet to be identified.

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a man was found dead of apparent gunshot wounds in Akron, according to police.

The incident happened at a residence in the 1100 block of Keys Place. Officers responded at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Friday night for calls of shots fired. 

When officers arrived, they found the victim, a 25-year-old man, dead inside a nearby apartment.

The victim's name is currently being withheld by police "pending further investigation."

An investigation of the area revealed bullet holes in two unoccupied vehicles and an apartment.

Police said a 20-year-old woman was arrested for "obstructing and misconduct at an emergency," but she was not named as a suspect.

The Akron Police Department asks anyone with information regarding this incident to call their detective bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip.

An anonymous tip can also be provided through the Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS.
