The Akron Police Department is investigating two separate bank robberies that occurred over the weekend.
The first reported bank robbery in Akron occurred at KeyBank located at the 700 block of West Market Street on Friday, May 13, at 11:53 a.m.
A white man in his 30s slipped the teller a note saying he had a bomb. The suspect then snatched money from the teller’s hands and fled the bank right after.
Just a day later, another robbery occurred in Akron. The Akron Police Department responded to a robbery at Chase Bank off Brittain Road on Saturday, May 14, around 9:30 a.m.
According to officials, an armed robber walked into the bank, jumped the counter and told everyone to go to the floor. The robber demanded money and told the teller to fill a bag with cash.
When the police arrived, the suspect had already fled from the bank.
The suspect in the Chase Bank robbery is described as a Black male who is 25-30 years old, standing 5 feet 7 inches and weighing approximately 170 pounds.
FBI agents and detectives collected information and evidence from the Chase Bank robbery.
According to the Akron Police Department, both of the robberies are under investigation at this time.
