Akron police: Unknown suspect breaks window, fires multiple shots into apartment

Four individuals were home at the time of the shooting, but fortunately, no one was injured.

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after shots were fired into an apartment in Akron on Tuesday night.

The shooting happened around 11:50 p.m. in the 1300 block of Sylvan Avenue. 

Upon arriving at the scene, a 23-year-old resident told Akron police that an unknown suspect pounded on her door and broke the glass of the front window. The suspect then allegedly fired multiple shots into the apartment. 

Police say none of the four residents were injured -- including a 4-year-old child.

At this time, detectives are working to identify the suspect. The suspect was reportedly wearing all black clothing and was seen running from the scene following the shooting.  

Shell casings and other evidence were recovered by officials from the scene.
