Akron police investigating after man found dead inside tent

Police were called to the area of 800 Oberlin Street for a possible fight. They found a man's body in a tent behind a vacant home.

AKRON, Ohio — Police in Akron are investigating after a man was found dead by officers who were responding to a call for a possible fight.

According to a release from Akron police, officers were sent to the 800 block of Oberlin Street at approximately 5:25 a.m. on Tuesday morning. After police arrived at the scene, they were told that at least one resident reported "hearing a possible altercation nearby."

"While searching the area, officers located an unidentified adult male, deceased, inside a tent behind the vacant home. The victim had signs of trauma which leads Investigators to believe the circumstances surrounding the death are suspicious," police noted.

The Summit County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and are in the process of identifying the victim.
