AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle whose operator sustained serious injuries after being ejected from the bike.
According to officials, the incident happened at approximately 10:22 p.m. on Sunday evening. Police say the motorcycle was heading northbound on South Main Street near Selle Street, when the operator "attempted to negotiate the curve and lost control."
Investigators determined that the motorcycle slid sideways and the 27-year-old operator was "ultimately ejected." He struck a sign and sustained a "severe leg injury."
The motorcyclist was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition. His name is being withheld pending further investigation.
Akron police added that while its investigation is ongoing, speed does not appear to factor in the crash.
