AKRON, Ohio — After receiving numerous complaints about guns and drugs at Akron's Whitney Mini Park, police conducted a raid and made several arrests earlier this week.
Investigators conducted surveillance of the park and gathered enough information to arrest 10 people on drug and weapons charges.
After patrol officers seized firearms and drugs from a car near the park on Monday, the task force returned the next day to crack down on violators.
Detectives confiscated 20 grams of cocaine, 415 grams of marijuana, three firearms, and other pieces of evidence.
The following suspects were taken into custody:
- Dazhan McCallister, 20, Weapons Under Disability, and Possession of Oxycodone
- (Possessed a fully automatic Glock handgun)
- Antione D. Gray, 30, Weapons Under Disabilty, Possession of Crack Cocaine, and Possession of Marijuana. (Possessed a Glock 26 9mm handgun).
- Ray C. Gaiter, Jr., 21, Weapons Under Disabilty, Carrying Concealed Weapon. (Possessed a .380 pistol)
- Tyrus J. Toney, 20, Possession Marijuana (Bulk amounts)
- Raphael T. Griffin, 33, Possession Marijuana
- Million M. Sowell , 20, Possession Marijuana
- Vernon D. Singleton, 34, arrested on Outstanding Warrant, Domestic Violence
- Robert D. Rogers, 24, Possession of Drugs, Marijuana
- Larry Jones, Jr., 33, Possession of Drugs, Marijuana
- Travontae Harbin, 35, Possession of Drugs
