Police searching for suspect who fatally shot man in Akron

The victim has since been identified as Joseph Hall, according to an update Thursday afternoon from the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 38-year-old man on Wednesday evening.

According to a release, the shooting happened inside a residence in the 1300 block of Brandon Avenue. Officers were called to the scene just after 7 p.m. and arrived to find the victim on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:25 p.m.

The victim has since been identified as Joseph Hall, according to an update Thursday afternoon from the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.

"The investigation is still in its early stages, and the exact circumstances are unknown," the APD wrote in its release. "Detectives are working diligently to gather additional information to help identify the suspect or suspects responsible for this senseless tragedy."
