CLEVELAND — Police are investigating after a 24-year-old woman was shot dead in Akron early Sunday morning.
According to an Akron Police Department Spokesperson, the shooting took place at an apartment at 14 Socrates Place some time before 12:26 a.m.
Police arrived to find a woman suffering a gunshot wound to her torso. Police believe the woman was shot by an "unknown suspect" who ran away on foot after the shooting.
The 24-year-old was taken to a hospital by EMS and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, police said.
Police are not identifying the woman at this time. The shooting remains under investigation.
