Akron police investigate 3 Friday robberies: Here's a timeline of what happened

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are searching for the suspects connected to three separate Friday robberies that all happened between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Below is a timeline of the robberies based on information released by Akron police on Monday…

6:12 P.M.

Akron police responded to the 1100 block of Clifton Avenue where they met with a 71-year-old man who reported being robbed.

Police say the victim said he was walking home from a nearby store when two unknown males approached him.

“The suspects, who were reportedly wearing masks, demanded the victim’s money at gunpoint before pushing him to the ground and taking his wallet and cell phone,” according to Akron police.

Akron police say the officers pursued the suspects on foot for several blocks before one of them was found hiding in a wooded area near Patterson Park baseball field.

That suspect who is 15 years old, was taken into custody without incident. They face charges of aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business.

In addition to the victim’s cell phone, police say they recovered a loaded handgun that’s believed to have been used in the crime.

The second suspect has not been captured.

8:20 P.M.

Officers responded to the 500 block of North Main Street where they met with the 19-year-old victim who told police he found an unknown male in the back seat of his car

Police say the suspect reportedly pointed a gun at the victim and forced him to drive to a nearby ATM on East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue.

“After withdrawing an undisclosed amount of cash, the victim exited his car and the suspect got into the driver’s seat and drove away,” according to Akron police.

The victim’s Toyota Camry was later recovered in the 400 block of Butler Street.

The suspect, however, has not been located.

8:25 P.M.

Police responded to the area of Wellington Avenue and Hazel Street where they met with a 19-year-old pizza delivery driver was reportedly robbed.

The victim told police he was making a delivery for Domino’s in the 1200 block of Arnold Avenue when he was met by an unknown male in the driveway who demanded his money at gunpoint.

“The victim handed over his wallet, which contained an unspecified amount of money, and the suspect fled the scene on foot,” according to Akron police. “The victim was unharmed during the incident.”
