3 hurt in Saturday night shooting at hookah lounge in Akron

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department is working to identify the suspect who opened fire in a shooting that left three people hurt late Saturday night.

Police say it was around 11:10 p.m. when officers responded to the Exhale Hookah Lounge in the 500 block of East Exchange Street “after multiple gunshots rang out.”

Upon their arrival, police found three shooting victims inside and outside of the establishment.

The three victims – all adult men between the ages of 20 and 41 – were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Police say their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

“Based on preliminary indications, an unknown suspect, described only as a taller, heavy-set male, fired multiple shots during an altercation,” according to Akron police. “Shell casings and other evidence were recovered from the scene.”

Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting while trying to identify the suspect involved.
