AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a man was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting outside an apartment complex in Akron.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office says that the incident happened on Wednesday, April 24, at around 4:15 a.m. Akron police responded to the scene in the 1900 block of Newton Street in Akron after receiving multiple calls for shots fired outside of an apartment complex.
Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered the victim lying on the ground in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. The 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 4:40 a.m. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as Alexander Ford.
In addition, officers found a 58-year-old woman who had also been shot. She was taken to a local hospital with what appeared to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Akron police say that based on early indications, it appears that an unknown suspect fired multiple shots at the victims while they were inside a parked car. Police recovered dozens of shell casings and other evidence from the scene.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
