AKRON, Ohio — Do you recognize this vehicle?
It has been nearly one month since two people – including a 4-year-old girl – were killed in a double shooting in Akron.
As the Akron Police Department continues searching for suspects in the case, they’ve released updated image of the vehicle that may be connected to the shooting.
“The pictured Jeep Compass may be the vehicle involved in this double homicide,” the Akron Police Department wrote on Facebook while sharing two new photos this week. “There is damage on the driver’s side door.”
The incident dates back to July 8 when Akron police say three unknown suspects fired multiple shots into a crowd of people around 9:15 p.m. who had gathered in a parking lot in the 700 block of Boulevard Street for a party.
The suspects then fled in a dark-colored SUV, police said. You can see more photos of the suspected vehicle from a previous Akron police Facebook post below.
“Per a witness, the SUV may have been a green 2017-2021 Jeep Compass, a darker colored Ford Escape or a Hyundai Santa Fe,” the Akron Police Department wrote on Facebook.
4-year-old Journei Tolbert and 40-year-old Johnny Gaiter were both killed in the shooting.
