Woman taken to hospital following shooting in Akron at Spring Hill Apartments

Akron police say the victim has a non-life-threatening injury.

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating after a woman was injured in a shooting at Spring Hill Apartments.

The shooting happened on Thursday at around 4:36 p.m. in the 1200 block of Everton Drive. According to police, "two groups of unidentified people exchanged gunfire with one another in the parking lot."

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found an 18-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center with a non-life-threatening injury. 

Police say they searched several apartments following the shooting after suspects fled from the scene and went into the buildings.  

Police recovered four firearms, dozens of shell casings and other evidence from the scene. In addition, bullets struck multiple cars parked in the parking lot.

At this time, there are no known suspects and no arrests have been made.
