Akron police arrest 21-year-old man in connection with shooting

Dudley was charged with felonious assault and receiving stolen property, but Akron police say additional charges are possible pending the investigation's outcome.

AKRON, Ohio — A 21-year-old man, identified as Izaiah Dudley, has been arrested in connection with an Akron shooting, which happened near the 50 block of Rosalind Court around 6 p.m. Monday.

Police say multiple officers responded to the scene where they found a 24-year-old woman with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to the hospital. Police say her injuries are not life-threatening.

“While the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown, detectives determined that there was an altercation involving multiple subjects,” according to a press release from Akron police.

Police say Dudley had fired “numerous shots from a vehicle” that drove away from the scene.

Officers later stopped a car that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and found Dudley in the front passenger seat.

“Detectives determined, based on the investigation, that Dudley possessed a stolen firearm and fired shots that caused the victim’s injuries,” according to Akron police. “Dudley was arrested and charged with felonious assault and receiving stolen property. Numerous shell casings and other evidence were also recovered from the original scene, and two handguns were found inside the stopped vehicle.”

Police say additional charges may be pending the outcome of the investigation.
