AKRON, Ohio — Two men are recovering after both were shot in unrelated incidents in Akron on Monday night.

Below is a timeline of what happened, according to the Akron Police Department…

9:12 p.m.

Officers responded to Diagonal Road and Courtland Avenue “to search for a shooting scene” after a 31-year-old man was dropped off at the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police say they later detained a 23-year-old man found armed with a loaded handgun on Diagonal Road.

“The subject was determined to be with the victim when an unknown suspect shot at them while they were on the sidewalk,” according to Akron police.

During a search, police say they found a loaded handgun in his waistband and approximately 30 grams of marijuana.

After taking him into custody, police say that a “small, but hostile crowd” had formed, causing officers to relocate to further their investigation.

He was charged with carrying concealed weapons, weapons under disability and possession of drugs.

The victim is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.

11:30 p.m.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Noah Avenue where they found an 18-year-old man inside a home with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to an Akron hospital for surgery. Police say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

“Detectives found that the homeowner and at least two other teens were inside the home at the time of the shooting,” according to the Akron Police Department. “A shell casing was recovered from the scene.”

Circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently unknown as police continue their investigation.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490.

Tipsters can remain anonymous.
