Akron swimming pools now open for the summer

According to the City of Akron, safety measures are in place at each pool to help stop the spread of the coronavirus

AKRON, Ohio — In Akron, the pools are open and ready for swimmers!

The City of Akron says the swimming pools located at Reservoir Park and Perkins Park, along with the city’s splash pads at Joy and Patterson Parks, are now open for the summer.

According to the City of Akron, there will be safety measures in place at each pool to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. Each pool will have a set maximum capacity, all employees will wear face masks, and visitors will be asked to wear a mask when they are not in the pool.

“We want our community to be able to participate in their favorite summertime activities in a way that is safe for everyone involved,” said Mayor Dan Horrigan. “It is vital that the guidelines are followed so that residents can enjoy these recreational opportunities while still mitigating the impact of COVID-19.”

To swim at a City of Akron pool, you must have a membership.  You can register for that free membership online or in person at the swimming pools.

Pool and splash pads hours are Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday, 1 – 5 p.m.
