AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Zoo has announced price changes will take effect starting Tuesday, Jan. 16. So what's different?
"The zoo will be moving to plan-ahead pricing, which will offer variable admission prices," according to a press release from the Akron Zoo.
This means guests will be able to select their admission price based on their date of visit -- and buying admission tickets online in advance will offer a lower price point with tickets available up to 60 days in advance.
Factors that will impact ticket prices include attendance patterns, event popularity, holidays and weather.
"Lower-priced days will tend to see smaller crowds or have fewer activities," according to the zoo's press release.
Higher-priced days will be expected on more popular days with larger crowds and more activities available.
While tickets will still be available at the zoo's ticket counter, day-of tickets will be sold at the highest price. Guests without an option to purchase tickets online can call the zoo at 330-375-2550 for assistance in buying tickets in advance.
The zoo's press release did not list specific price ranges with this new structure.
