AKRON, Ohio — The International Soap Box Derby has received $25,000 in grants from various funds in the Akron Community Foundation.
In a press release, the Soap Box Derby states that the money will be used toward general operating support, which will include expanding the Derby’s STEM education programs as well as enhancing the overall experience for race participants and their families.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Akron Community Foundation,” said Mark Gerberich, president and chief executive office, ISBD. “With COVID, our relationship with the Akron Community Foundation means a lot. We appreciate the continued support of the operational grant, which is crucial, especially in the current year.”
The release goes on to say, “This grant will help further the ISBD’s mission by providing meaningful experiences through fair and honest racing competitions, STEM curriculums, and other community-focused activities.”
