Al Roker back in Northeast Ohio as guest speaker at University of Akron with 3News’ Betsy Kling as emcee

Roker will also be live in studio here at 3News at 6 a.m. Thursday. Don't miss it!

AKRON, Ohio — Before Al Roker of NBC's TODAY co-hosts our GO! morning show live here in Cleveland at 6 a.m. Thursday, he made a stop in Summit County on Wednesday night as a featured speaker at the University of Akron for the 2023 Delta Gamma Lectureship in Values and Ethics.

3News’ Betsy Kling emceed the event.

“Bringing his charismatic attitude and smile to the podium of E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, Roker will reflect on his professional career and the importance of humor and a positive attitude personally and professionally in his talk, Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella: The Power of Positivity,” according to UA officials.

“The goal of the speaker series is to establish a venue on college campuses where values and ethics could be discussed in an open format, making Roker an ideal candidate for the event,” UA officials added.

And then…

Tune in for our GO! morning show at 6 a.m. Thursday as Roker joins us live in studio. We have several surprises in store that you won’t want to miss.

Roker, who worked in Cleveland at WKYC for five years early in his career, has previously said Northeast Ohio "is literally my second home."

During his last visit with us back in May of 2021, we announced that our radar tower was being renamed in his honor. You can watch that moment in the video below:
